Steering Committee Meeting - November 16, 2019: We had a very productive and congenial meeting with the three local Anglican churches of St. Peter's, St. Ninian's, and St. John the Divine. The purpose of this meeting was "Recreating God's Church". The main objective was to plan for the Visionary Meeting of Saturday, January 4, 2020 to be held at St. John the Divine on Scarborough Golf Road from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. This will be an open meeting with all the congregations fo the three parishes to discuss the following six (6) topics: Worship & Music; Children & Family; Youth; Outreach; Pastoral Care; Senior Ministry. The steering committee with each chair one of the toopics. The results of the January 4th meeting will be communicated to each parish by the end of January. There will be a sign-up at the back of the church for the open meeting.
The Diocese of Toronto has implemented a new Human Rights and Harassment Policy. Both of these policies are available in the foyer for anyone who would like the review them.
The 2020 Canadian Church Calendar is now for sale. If you would like to place an order for a calendar please do so by Sunday, December 1st. The cost of a calendar is $5.65 including tax. Please leave your money and name with Jaime in the Church Office.
A note about the Altar Flower calendar: You’ll notice that some weeks have been x’d out. During Lent, we do not have flowers on the altar. Easter and Christmas are opened for multiple dedications as the church is beautifully decorated with special arrangements. Special flower envelopes are available at those times. The remaining x’d out dates are weeks that we do not have a scheduled floral designer to arrange flowers. If you are not able to select an alternate available date, please contact Lisa Turner, Altar Guild Directress and she will see if a flower designer could be made available. If anyone is interested to do flowers on a regular basis, we’d be happy to welcome you to the team.
We have chosen three members of our parish along with the People’s Warden (Gloria Ramsay-Hall) to form a Steering Committee for St. Peter’s to discuss the matters of amalgamation. These discussions will be taking place with Janet Marshall (Director of Congregational Development) and selected members of the other two churches involved. The individuals that were chosen are Charlotte (Lottie) Bowering, Jane Lawrence, and Nancy Wilson.
